Synopsis
Newly promoted Ensign Richard Sharpe is unhappy fighting with the 74th foot, his fellow officers are not happy with him, the men are not happy with him he is not happy with himself. It is decided to send him to england to join the newly forming Experimental Corps of Riflemen.
Until that point he is sent to serve with Captain Torrence who commands the supply train. He soon discovers mismanagement and theft in the supply system, and his discoveries bring him into conflict with both Captain Torrance and his old Sergeant Obidiah Hakeswill.
Sharpe fights back and the body count within his enemies in the British army mounts up. But Sharpe has scores to settle with Major Dodd who inside the fortress of Gawilghur, Sharpe joins the assault and waits for the chance to settle them.
