Lieutenant Berry

Lieutenant Berry only makes an appearance in Sharpe eagle for matters which will become apparent, he is one of Sir Henry Simmerson inexperienced officers in the South Essex regiment. He is close friends with Christian Gibbons and and adversary to Richard Sharpe.

He is first just antagonistic to Richard Sharpe over matters of station and rank, but after Sharpe interferes in argument between him and Josefina Locasta. He and his friend Lieutenant Gibbons plan reemerge which manifests as the raping of Josefina the night before the Battle of Talevera.

Sharpe tracks him down that night and cruelly murders him in revenge. Lieutenant Berry plays no more of a role in the Sharpe Novels.
